Prayer for Light and Life

Prayer For Light and Life (SATB, piano). This SATB anthem draws on a prayer by St. Ignatius of Loyola, and is adapted by the composer. With moderate ranges and simple harmonies, this setting is attainable by most choirs and is appropriate for general use.

Prayer for Light and Life (St. Ignatius of Loyola)

Fill us, we pray Thee, with Thy light and life,
that we may show forth Thy wondrous glory.
Grant that Thy love may so fill our lives
that we may count nothing too small to do for Thee,
nothing too much to give, nothing too hard to bear.
Teach us, good Lord, to serve Thee as Thou deservest:

To give and not to count the cost;
to fight and not heed the wounds;
to toil and not seek rest; to work without reward,
save knowing that we do Thy will;
through Christ our Lord. Amen
